Sweep! And Congratulations to the Grizzlies

As expected, the Spurs won handily last night. But I would be remiss if I failed to acknowledge the truly phenomenal turn around in the Grizzlies organization this year. They began the year with few if any expectations for having a season like they had--first ever 50 wins. Thankfully, their coach was recognized for this terrific success with Coach of the Year honors.

Too bad the Rockets couldn't pull out that win over the Lakers yesterday. It will be really tough for them to win the series now. Of course, it depends upon which Lakers team shows up to play in LA on Wednesday. That's the thing about the Lakers. It's really hard to tell if they will show up to play or not. And for a team comprised of All-Stars or former All-Stars supposedly hungry for a championship, that's simply unacceptable. I'm rooting for the Rockets, but I suspect the Spurs will be playing the Lakers in the next round. Bring 'em on! Go Spurs Go.

Spurs Looking Good

The Spurs are preparing to sweep the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of playoff action today. At least one commentator speculates the Grizzlies will be effective in their efforts to fight back tonight. It could happen.

I watched the NFL draft yesterday while She worked on building a database. What do you think about the Eli Manning fiasco? I'd be interested in understanding the politics of that mess. What are your theories?

YES!

It went exactly the way I'd hoped it would. The Spurs won handily but with a bit of pressure from the Lakers.

The Final Throes of NBA 2004

We're rapidly approaching the conclusion of the 2004 NBA season. How will the Spurs finish the season out? How they perform on Sunday in LA will play a critical role in the end of the season. I would have hoped it wouldn't come down to the wire like this, but that's just the way the Spurs seem to work.

The Lakers are on a winning streak. Their dream team is healthy, and for the last eleven games, they've been unstoppable. I sincerely hope they encounter a significant speed bump tomorrow. Better yet, I'd prefer a brick wall.

I'll be watching.
